I started with book three, when I discovered the series many years ago (same as you, the library didn’t have the first two), it didn’t stop me enjoying and loving the series.

I did, however, go and buy books 1 and 2 before reading book 4 (which wasn’t out way-back-when anyway).

I’d like to start reading the Deverry series, but my library doesn’t have the first two books. Should I start at the third or would I be too confused?
