Grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs Dies
Constance Ash May 16th, 2008

Danton Burroughs, the grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs, just died, in Tarzana.
[ Burroughs, who had been battling Parkinson's disease, died of heart failure a day after a fire at his home destroyed a room filled with family memorabilia. ]
Here’s the Burroughs website.
From what I’d heard elsewhere, he’d been working on selling the Mars books as a series for a television network like GRRM did ASOIAF to HBO, or a movie franchise, like Indiana Jones.
I’d quite like to see a good HBO series of the Mars books, done in the style of the period in which they were written. If done well, needless to say.
Love C.
My understanding is that Pixar has secured the rights and they’re working on a live-action “John Carter of Mars.” Supposedly set to be Pixar’s first all live-action film. I don’t know if anyone’s ever officially confirmed this, but you can find plenty of references to it on the geek boards.
Someone else posted that info on my blogspot too.
I couldn’t find any info that’s more current than October, 2007, except for this website, with a post from March:

The media’s been reporting today that Prince Caspian has underperformed. I haven’t seen Narnia nor will I see this one. The trailers didn’t make them look in the least interesting. But then, I never could read the series either.
Love, C.
The first Narnia film was actually pretty good. Not great, mind you, but good. The books are really pretty thin, and the filmmakers made up for that by putting in these Peter Jackson-style CGI battles. Kind of detracted from the message a bit.
I’ve gotten the impression that Prince Caspian is all action. At least the people posting about it (who liked it) described a lot of battles and sword fights and so on.
The trailer has giant eagles, I think they are, from which people fight. Were they in the book?
Love, C.
no fighting from giant eagles in the book…that I can remember anyway. (Its been awhile since I read them, LOL.) Lots of battle scenes in this one though. I do love narnia …it was what got me into fantasy when I was little. price caspian, Voyage of the dawn treader and horse and his boy my favourites. Magcians newphew would make the best movie though.
A little after the fact, but… Andrew Stanton at Pixar has confirmed they’re working on John Carter of Mars.
