Ira: Once a Borges fan, always a Borges fan. :-) "Library of Babel" is, hands down, one of my favorite short stories in the whole canon of literature.

I was bopping through Infoquake, liking some characters and ideas more than others, when I came to the part where Borges' "Library at Babel" was recast as a virtual environment. What a great idea! I am now a fan.

Thanks, all! ruzkin, hope you sell a truckload of 'em. And yes, Charles, I did see (and am quite pleased with) that review on Pat's Fantasy Hotlist.

As with your sharing of your early drafts of the opening chapter of Infoquake I really enjoy this glimpse into your writing development.

I'm sure you've seen this already, but here is quite a favorable review of MultiReal from
Pat's Fantasy Hotlist

I was just linked here by a friend and recognised the cover of Infoquake instantly, because we just received a fat box of the paperbacks at the small sci-fi/fantasy bookstore where I work.

Congrats on both books, and thanks tons for posting up these drafts. As a sci-fi fan and ever-hopeful author myself, it's great to see that all authors go through the same tough processes. Keep on trucking, and I look forward to selling Infoquake over the next few weeks.

I think it's pretty cool to see someone else's multitude of drafts. This is such a huge part of the writing process that people never really think about once they pick up a book from a store shelf and start reading. It's so easy not to think about the enormous amounts of revising and planning and revising and naming and revising and...you get it. It's comforting to know other people use really generic placeholder names until they come up with something better, I do that all the time on early drafts.
