Bizy bak son
Katharine Kerr August 18th, 2006
In case anyone’s been wondering where I’ve been, I am working violently on the end of the current Deverry novel. Deadline is first week of September. Yes, I mean “violently”, as anyone who has ever seen me block out a battle scene knows. :-)  At any rate, I shall return when I’m done, hopefully soon, and before Kevin goes to Worldcon so I can take over the 13 Line Critiques.
Oh yes, the title of this post comes from a seminal work of Western Literature.
It’s almost done! It’s almost done! Yahoo!
Way to go, Katharine! Keep up the good work.
Spotted or herbaceous?
Good news on the Spirit Stone! Battle descriptions must be really challenging because any protagonist would have such a limited view of what’s really going on… Which suddenly makes me realize the value of having, say, Nevyn going up to a high elevation to watch things and possibly ask for weather intervention!
On another note, thanks to everybody for the entertaining and enlightening discussions and digressions on writing. This fall I’m teaching a writing-intensive history course and the technicalities of the craft are pretty much the same whether it’s for school or fiction (and anyway, which is which!?)…
Good hunting, Kit. That’s why I have been conspicuously absent. Deadline looming. Half a book to go. Oicks!
Carol
Just one and a half more scenes for me, Carol. Good luck!
Hugh, by all means talk about the class as it goes, if you’d like. It would be interesting to compare fiction and history and fictional history for that matter.
I didn’t see a trackback, and I wanted to let you know that I had linked to your site and mentioned some of your articles in a blog entry. This is a great site. Thanks for all the work you do and information you share.
