I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to see this in the theatre last week. It is a movie that deserves to be seen that way. I also want it to make as much money as it possibly can so that more films of its caliber will be produced. I hope it wins some Oscars as it surely deserves to win in all 6 categories in which it was nominated.

I stumbled upon a brief mention of this movie one day last week and was intrigued enough to search for the film website. That same day I saw it mentioned in an author's blog and then saw a commercial for it just before going to bed. After that first teaser, I was hooked and was hoping it would go from 'select theaters' to all theaters. So I am very pleased to hear it'll be out on Friday.

For those curious, the film site is www.panslabyrinth.com/

Go. Go now. Go if you’ve ever loved fairytales, especially the dark ones where wicked stepfathers are actively evil, monsters actually eat children, and virtue is its own reward.

Agree entirely - definitely one of the best films I saw last year (possibly the best). Equally definitely not one for the squeamish, though: there's a bit involving a nose that forced me to close my eyes and wait until the sound effects told me the scene was over ...
